"Norwegian Rosemaling" Tile by Suzanne Toftey.
This is a tribute to Ethel Kvalheim, the beloved rosemaler from Stoughton, Wisconsin. She played an important part in the revival of rosemaling in this country. With her exceptional artistic talent and impeccable technique she has mastered all styles of rosemaling. She received her Gold Medal from Vesterheim in 1969. Ethel was honored by the King of Norway with the St. Olaf Medal of Honor in 1971 and received the National Endowment of the Arts Award in 1989. The rosemaling community holds this most talented, yet very humble painter and friend, close to their hearts.
It measures 6 inches square. Use it as a trivet or hang on your wall- comes with a cork backing and a hanger for wall mounting.
